Village offices in Kerala are well known for corruption. A number of certificates are issued from village offices (income certificate, nativity certificate etc.) and invariably bribe is required to get them. In Kerala, nowadays almost every one has a mobile phone. There are "life time prepaid services" which requires a very small amount to keep a mobile connection with free incoming call support. Hence even school children has got their own mobiles.

According to the latest report by accounts general, Kerala’s total debt is now over fifty thousand crore rupees! The increase in debt was about 2500 crores just in last 8 months! This is now a ticking bomb, which if not addressed quickly will spiral into total disaster..
