Malayalam Movie artistes Association (AMMA) has released the much anticipated Malayalam movie titled “Twenty :20″ (Twenty Twenty Movie). This is the first time that a movie is released in over 100 cinema theatres across Kerala. It is directed by Joshy and produced by Dileep and the intention is to raise money for AMMA.

Interestingly Mohanlal’s fans association has threatened to boycott the movie saying that the posters of the movie didn’t give equal importance for Mohanlal and Mammootty. Apparently Mammootty appears in the centre of the poster giving him more importance. We might call a Harthal to protest this (Hey guys, I am just joking don’t call a Harthal!).

Looking at the poster, I think they should have put some more space between Suresh Gopi and Mammootty on one side and between Mohanlal and Dileep.  Another option would be to move Jeyaram to back row between Mohanlal and Mammootty. Man, designing poster is so difficult!

The film has almost all superstars of Malayalam movie and has over 70 actors in various roles. I think there may not be any scenes where they have used supporting actors! The only person missing from the cast is Meera Jasmine. It is interesting to note that actors are not given any money for their performances.

Here is an interesting point. I am sure some of those actors were not interested in the movie. But they don’t have an option. Because they could be banned by AMMA which means they won’t be able to act anymore. This is the reality of unions in Kerala.

The film is already making a lot of controversies enough to generate money. A number of B centre theatres refused to release the film. On top of it, the producers managed to get an exemption from government so that they can charge 50% extra on the tickets for first 3 days. In the last minute Kerala high court stayed it saying that the special permission is invalid.

Twenty:20 Movie Story/Review

I am yet to see the film, but a couple of emails are circulating about the story. As can be guessed from the line up the movie is very fast paced so as to balance all the super stars.

The story is rumored to be a crime thriller in which an IPS officer investigates a murder and is suspicious that a business man is behind the killing.
