What is the real threat to our country? - politicians!

The minimum education qualification required to apply for the post of a Lower Division Clerk in government service is SSLC (10th standard pass). The pay scale is around 3000-5000 and it is not easy to get this job. You need to work hard in the PSC test to get in.

But unfortunately in order to become a politician or an MLA or an MP you don’t need any educational qualifications. Better still there are no qualifications required even to become a minister or chief minister. What!??? A position such as Chief minister is so important, yet you don’t even need to pass SSLC to command that position? Then how can that person lead a team of highly qualified bureaucrats, or police officers? How can this be even remotely reasonable?

So it is no wonder when someone like Kerala chief minister Achuthanandan makes fun of our previous president Abdul Kalam(a well known scientist and scholar). Our chief minister is in a different league. He had never seen 8th standard or above in school. He is also the brainchild behind the beautiful farmer torture mechanism called "vettinirathal"*.  So it is no wonder that he thinks Kalam is just another guy who sends "vaanams" to air.

The context is India’s nuclear deal with United States. Anyone who has read the full agreement can see that the agreement explicitly excludes any military use of nuclear energy. It is an agreement to bring accountability of nuclear material supplied to India for power generation, nothing less nothing more. People like APJ Kalam is intelligent to see the big picture, while other less intelligent ones have a tough time to know what it is!

The lack of any minimum qualification for politicians is a big mistake our early generation did when they drafted Indian constitution. They should have put a minimum qualification like SSLC with a clause to increase it in due time.

PS: Some of you may be wondering what "vettinirathal" is. This was a violent and criminal movement in which gangs of people destroyed farm crops in the name of ant-reclamation strike. What is more funny is the fact that the people being targeted were poor farmers who was working hard to escape from poverty!

    Though this agreement sets up guidelines for power generation use of nuclear energy, US can also clearly know how much nuclear bombs India can make with the nuclear fuel bought from outside. A clearer picture will emerge to the US, since a demarcation can be now made between India’s military and non military nuclear fuel supply.
    Regarding Kerala PSC exams, people don’t think the exams are free and fair. Look at the recent Kerala University exam results. It is a public secret that most KPSC exams are also conducted similarly. I know of a PSC board member who accumulated crores of Rs of wealth after becoming a member.
    Regarding vettinirathal, the commies made the paddy cultivation most unprofitable by hiking daily wages of workers to exhorbitant levels. A worker is Kerala now gets more than 6 times the daily wage of a UP or Bihar worker!!! The commies also do not allow mechanisation. Then how can a poor farmer cultivate paddy? He won’t do it at a loss. So he goes for cash crops, which gets him more price for his produce. The commies again block his living by this so called Stalinistic “vettinirathal”. Let Stalinism go to hell!!!!

    @Jacob
    What you said about Kerala PSC exams and vettinirathal is 100% true. Also, there is another issue of pro-Malayalam stand by these commies. They want more and more children to learn in Malayalam medium schools, but they themselves send their children to English medium schools or even to USA, their enemy. What hipocrites these people are! I ask these pro-Malayalam commie [censored]: “First you ensure adequate employment for all educated people of Kerala in Kerala.” Keralites survive by going to Gulf and USA only because they learned English. If they had learnt only Malayalam, there would have been lots of suicide as you see now among farmers.

    As I know politics is not a one man show. Every member in that group (party) would act like they are the ministers. Their belief is that opinion of the group which has major number of members should win always. For that they will do anything. They even beat police officers in public. They think they are the justice. When any of the victim give a petition to court, there also victim is helpless. Bcz, in our judiciary system (eye) witness should be there to success a case. The opponent will have 10 to many of eye witness.

    Even though the things are going like this I cant say anything wrong with them(politicians)…bcz Ikyamathyam Mahabalam

    This Achuthanandan is really crossing all limits. Insulting a seasoned Scientist and a former President of India like this…Unthinkable! That guy should be kicked out of that seat soon…such a useless weed. Shame to all Keralites..

  5. raymond Says:

    ya, a seventh std pass tailor making fun of a world renowned scientist!!!! What a pity! This is why going for IAS is not popular in Kerala. IAS guys (Eg: Lida Jacob and Niveditha)have to suffer the wrath of these school failed politicians!

  6. Vinod/Kakka Says:

    I am from Kerala, and now live in a small town called Shirley near Boston. The thing is that people here are more involved in the democratic process. If there any issues that you have with the town, you can bring it up in the town meetings.
    In Kerala, I wonder how many Technopark employees will go to a Gramasabha to see what things are being discussed, and how they can make a change without joining a political party. The thing with democracy is that people need to care. Atleast, with the decentralized planning process there is a way for people to get involved. If politication of residents associations has happened, aren’t the people responsible for it too? How much more can the system change to make it more participatory?

    Why dont you read comrade V.S’s biography on Wikipedia and see why he studied only uptil 8th std. Both his parents died and mind you this was pre-independence time- Not your highness’ time when schools are more and its very easy to get education. Whats the use of a degree .look at Kiggini kuttan..he went to MarIvanious college for PDC..I dont know for degree to which college he went. He is as foolish as anyone in the world can get. IIts the old British Raj stereotype which values too much on education and not on skills.

  8. tom Says:

    If one has low education, he should shut his bloody mouth up, not criticize learned people!!!!!

  9. raymond Says:

    True…. lowly educated most politicians in India are; and they are ruling India. That’s why India has remained a poor nation and people with good education are leaving India, fed up with the Indian system.

  10. jacob Says:

    India, especially Kerala, is a mobocracy, not a democracy. The mob in power gets all resources and mishandles it to their own advantage.

  11. toms Says:

    Some people don’t want India to catch up with China: Chidamabaram. :-D :-D
    How well said! These people are recruited by China as agents to put hurdles in development of India.

  12. toms Says:

    What I told you all these times, the FM himself has told now. What better proof?

  13. anonymous Says:

    @the guy explaining someone’s biography
    You must be a RED CHINA spy who got uneducated in (Joseph Stalin Memorial) University College where SFI has their own management quota!!!

  14. AnonX Says:

    Haha..in my education I am most likely in the top .005% in Kerala and I work in Silicon valley with a very advanced degree and I never studied in Univ College. I call him comrade out of respect not becoz I am communist. Try to be fair and understand other peoples contribution to society - you will go much further in life.

  15. Anonymous Says:

    No Thanks, for the foolish advice.

  16. toms Says:

    Another foolish law by the govt to preserve paddy cultivation. These commies are very good at plugging holes with darkness!

  17. Jacob Says:

    Foolish commies with ZERO skill!!! HA HA HA :-D

  18. sunil Says:

    I bet they are not only foolish with zero skill. They are actually antisocial - doing such unconstitutional activities like harthal, vettinirathal, challenging judiciary and propogating terror in the streets, especially when they are in opposition.

  19. MV Says:

    Our system of democracy is proving to be of poor standard. The younger generation should try to rectify the defects.

  20. jacob Says:

    @MV
    We don’t have democracy. We have only mobocracy, especially propagated by commies. There should be a revolution against this by the public in Kerala. The Kerala public is known for their inaction and because of this, this evil is surviving.
