All India mango and honey exhibition begins at trivandrum
May 11th, 2008
Festival of mangoes and honey began at Trivandrum Chandrasekharan Nair stadium from today. It offers a rare chance to see a large variety of (over 150) Indian mangoes and also to taste local honey drink and mango juice. You can also purchase around 10 different types of mangoes at the venue.
I visited the venue in the evening and was overwhelmed by the variety of mangoes on display. Some of the interesting mango varieties I saw are guddadat, kosseri, chakkara, rumani, kathar, mercuri, panchasara, jailor and aanathala. Here are some photos,
Mango festival is organized by Department of Agriculture in association with the State Horticulture Mission, Horticorp and the Kerala Agricultural University. Mango products and mango plants are also available on sale at the venue. Don’t miss the event, trust me it is an interesting experience.
Mango festival is open from 11th May 2008 to 13th May 2008. There is a huge crowd at the venue and the best time to visit is morning or lunch time. There is plenty of parking space behind the stadium.
