Reliance retail shop ransacked by criminals at paravur

Criminals from DYFI and biggest Kerala mafia (Vyapari Vyvasayi association) ransacked the new Reliance retail shop scheduled to open today at Paravur. They destroyed property and poured oil on the building. Interestingly police never came to the spot and no one was arrested even after the violence.

Please note that the people behind this criminal activity hold powerful positions. The criminal gang included corporation chairman as well!

History has shown us that if Police is not impartial and if justice is not delivered, people take law into their own hands!

Today V.S. Achuthanandan said that judiciary shouldn’t interfere in the matters of governance. If the ruling party themselves (DYFI is a part of CPM) starts breaking the law what should courts do? Where do you get justice? This is clearly forcing people to take law into the hands. Can you blame Reliance if they start hiring goondas/criminals to handle DYFI criminals? I guess no.

I decide to start a business adhering to laws in India and if suddenly some thugs starts harassing me what will I do? First I will approach the police. They say they can’t do anything. Then I approach court and they say they also can’t do anything. There two options left - either bribe the politicians and the thugs or hire my own goondas to kick hell out of thugs. Which option would you take?

Over the last one month I have been talking to people and visiting places to find the  reasons behind the agitation against retail shops. Interestingly the retail shops targeted are all based in India (Reliance, Spencers etc.). There are two main reasons behind this agitation.

1. The majority of big retail business is controlled by certain groups. They are the main people who are funding this. In Kerala if you pay money you can hire a lot of anti-social elements. It is estimated that there are 4 million unemployed youth here!

2. In many places, politicians have a stake in the local retail shops or supermarkets. They know that there substandard supermarkets cannot compete with the efficient shops run by Reliance or Spencers.

I recently visited one of the Reliance shops and was surprised at the quality of service. Reliance fresh shops are run by professionals and you are offered hassle free shopping experience. Spencer’s also offered good service but I think pricing is high at Spencer’s. On the same day I visited a local supermarket run by a politician. Here is my comparison,

1. The local supermarket had substandard items on the shelves (for example vegetables). Comparatively Reliance had much better stuff on offer. The pricing was almost same!

2. It was dark and suffocating at the local supermarket. Reliance was just opposite. Plenty of fresh air, air conditioning and good lighting.

3. At local supermarket It took almost one hour at the cash counter. At reliance it took 5 minutes.

Now this is what makes me really mad. I think majority of us find shops such as Reliance Fresh pretty useful. In fact there is heavy rush at Reliance/Spencer’s/Varkeys at all times! But yet there are a handful (ok may be a bit more!) of criminals in our society who takes us all hostage. That my friend, is the problem with excessive freedom and our democracy.

The Communist leaders of Kerala are the most anti-social among their breed. The Communist Party continues to commit such historical blunders after their anti-computer strikes and anti-tractor activities of the 80s.. Now when all other states are moving ahead with SEZ and industrialization, Kerala reds are still ‘thinking’ about them…

They are a curse for our state!

See how Bengal and the futuristic leaders of their same species are doing good for their citizens..Immensely frustrating if you are a Keralite!

How much have you got from Reliance? If not, you are an un paid advocate of Reliance. They are worst than even East India Company. Think twice before you advocate for something.

  4. Kerala Tips Says:

The issue here is not about Reliance or Spencer’s or Varkeys. The “law of the land” is not written just for fun. Everyone whether it is Reliance or DYFI is bound by the law of the land.

I am talking from my experience here. I have visited 2 reliance fresh shops and they were pretty good compared to the local supermarkets. So if talking truth means advocating, so be it!

    Dear All,

In a democracy the people has right to choose and decide but not take law into their hands. Whats wrong in Reliance or any other BIG players entering our country ?? if we believe in quality and service every business can succeed be it big or small. Basically till today there was no competition for small timers, so it low standards, easy money..now when they have to fight and work hard which they dont want to do, they are resorting to all methods to get rid of BIG players.

Its high time politicians of Kerala get rid of these bad habits. If people have Jobs they have money and will start giving better to their families. No job means more idle time and politicians can take the youth for a ride..Just imagine..Keral is the most literate state, but the youth are so dumb that they get into politics and waste their youth..THINK !!
