Najim wins Idea Star Singer 2007

With a clear lead in SMS votes(40 thousand more than runner up Durga) Najim from Trivadrum today won the Idea Star Singer 2007 competition. He got a brand new flat worth 40 lakhs in cochin from confident group! Runner up Durga got a Ford Fiesta car!
Star singer 2007 took almost a year to complete! For the finalists it was grilling year and one of the contestants (Thushar - 3rd runner up) even quit his job to participate in the full time event.
The biggest winner of course is Idea cellular who I am sure must be raking in a lot of money. The final SMS round saw over half a million SMS messages which will convert to a lot of money since the the SMS numbers are premium numbers. Also no one in Asianet mentions that duplicate SMS doesn’t count. So I guess lot of fans must be casting multiple SMS votes hoping they can influence the result!
It is also interesting to note that the final event went up to 12AM so that Asianet can show all the advertisements on the TV! Majority of the audience was sitting there without water/food for over 6 hours! If only we had the same patience in other places 
Idea Star Singer 2008 was also kicked off today. This time there are first prizes for men and women. The prize money this time will run into crores!

Najim Arshad was the most deserving candidate among all of the finalists. His consistent standard of singing and all his humbless took him to this amazing height. Congratulations Najim!!

I think ISS 2007 winner was pre-fixed one as the sponsors and Asianet was interested to select someone from a particular community..and i think circulars by the community leaders were send out to community members urging them to vote for the person from their community leader in this regard… some media group can become so rigid for expanding their viewership..
