Killer roads in Kerala

Nightmare on kerala roadsOver last few weeks, atleast 20 people died just due to bad condition of roads in Kerala. Whenever a decision is made to cut a tree to widen a road, you might see a huge army of “intellectuals” protesting against it. But when people die just because roads are not repaired, no one bothers. The only sane institution in Kerala is the high court and when they try to enforce some law and order, politicians act like mad men.

There are many roads which are in good condition even after the so called “non stop” rains. The secret is that these roads are built using modern techniques and are rubberized. Unfortunately politicians, contractors and government officials hate such roads. These roads are not very helpful in large scale corruption.

Politicians as usual are completely impotent. They conduct meetings after meeting and then say officials are not following their order! Shame on you, if you can’t control your subordinates, how are you planning to bring revolution? Why don’t you just suspend the officials and ask PSC to recruit new ones? There are lot malayalees out there without a job!

If someone dies due to a pothole in the road, the official responsible for the road must be charged with “murder”. This may be the only solution to handle this problem.

You are portraying Yesudas in a bad light for the wrong reason. Yesudas spoke on a tourism function and tourism is the biggest (or the only?) money making industry in Kerala. at least he bothered to say this publicly when people like Kodiyeri Balakrishnan was present. That is to be appreciated.
