An entire family dies in road accident
July 4th, 2007
An entire family was wiped out due to the tragic accident that happened on the national highway near Alappuzha this saturday. Joseph Lawrence, his wife Sunitha, and daughters Sanchana and Sreya(8 months) had died when their car hit a mini bus.
The accident was caused by potholes on the national highway, which poses big danger especially during night. Some potholes are even 2 feet deep and will assure death for a 2 wheeler rider.
Here is the indian express report on the incident. Now note the following at the end of the report,
The bodies of Joseph Lawrence and his daughters were buried at the Bharatarajni cemetery near the Fatima College at 6 pm.
The body of Sunitha was buried at the kabarsthan of the Kilikolloor Juma Masjid.
It was the insistence of Sunitha’s family that was behind the decision to bury her at the kabarsthan, denying the family a joint burial.
What the heck was that? Even in so called “enlightened kerala”, people mix religion with death.
