Ban helmets - we want to die or we want bikers to die
June 29th, 2007
Kerala is unique in one respect. Whether you do anything good or bad there will be a lot of people to opposite it. For example, consider the case of making helmets mandatory. Helmets were made mandatory because lot of bike riders were dying due to head injury. But then some people prefer to die.
Following picture shows the recent demonstration against helments in Trivandrum. Please don’t laugh when you hear their reason - helmets are being implemented as part of “western conspiracy” and studies conducted in the west!

The premis of your argument is crap.
Bike helmets were not legislation because cyclists die due to head injuries.
You are more likely to sustain a fatal head injury driving a car, or to die from being hit by lightning but there are no laws requiring you to wear a helmet in a car, or to where a rubber suit in a thunderstorm.

Agreed, motorists should also wear helmets. Walking is relatively safe though, so only klutzes should need to wear helmets.
