Kerala electricity board - A daylight robber
June 14th, 2007
Kerala electricity board is another government department which is consistently on loss. But that doesn’t prevent them paying the maximum salary for its employees. In fact, it is highest paymaster in Kerala government.
Now they have found a way to extract more money from electricity consumers. Charge a hefty additional caution deposit from everyone. You would think that caution deposit is like a guarantee money, once you are a regular paying customer it doesn’t make sense to charge caution deposit.
What they are charging now is 3 times the monthly charge. So if someone is paying 400 per month, he will have to pay 1600 this month. As expected, board is giving a 220 volts shock to all its consumers. Only problem is that many families are already reeling under the financial pressure due to school opening.
What is caution deposit for? Electricity board normally disconnects your connection if you don’t pay your bills!
