Calling god from Kerala
June 14th, 2007
An American tourist decided to visit churches around the world to learn about worship rituals at churches world around.
At first he went to China. He reached a cathedral and near the pulpit was a golden telephone. Next to the telephone was a sign that read $1000 per minute.
Amused, the tourist approaches the priest to ask why it is so costly to use the phone. The priest replies: “You can dial God from this phone and can talk to Him.”
The tourist was so satisfied. He next went to Japan. To his surprise he saw similar golden telephone, again bearing the sign $1000 per minute.
He then travelled to Thailand, Australia, Italy, France, and he saw the same telephone and the same sign.
At last he reached Kerala. He walked into a cathedral here. He looked whether the golden telephone is there. Yes, it is there.
He was so surprised now, because the sign read: Call Charges Re 1 per Minute.
He asks the priest why it is so cheap to use the Golden Telephone here. He also described to the priest that in other places it is $1000 per minute to talk to God for one minute.
Priest replied: Son, this is God’s Own Country. You can make local calls to Him, because you are in Kerala.
Note: This is an email forward I got today. Interestingly you can find 1 rupee telephone boxes everywhere in Kerala now.
