Periyar national park is located in Idukki district. The protected area covers an area of 777 km², out of which a 350 km² part of the main zone was made into the Periyar National Park and Tiger Reserve, also known as the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary.

Kerala Police has recently started a campaign to improve their image among the public. As part of this campaign, movies on policing is being screened at Trivandrum (Chandrasekharan nair stadium) from April 18 to 21. Various events are planned at the venue and entry is free for the general public.
