Malayalam rock by Avial band - Nada Nada

Rock music is quite popular in Kerala. So it is no wonder that new rocks bands are always popping up in Kerala. Avial is a rock band who calls themselves as the “first malayalam alternative experimental band”!
Check out their debut album titled “Nada Nada”. Good Lord! - It is in malayalam and I love it! 
Couple of low bit rate video demos are also available here. But looking at the dates I think this band is more or less dead!

i stumbled upon this band AVIAL on youtube.com.Awesome!!to say the least.It was like a breath of fresh air.Ive heard a lot of originals from the famous “big bands” of india.Nada Nada was fantastic..the video rocks.

really good… living upto the rock music… really awesome… so now we have rock in malayalam too… nice… i like it man… really cool… a word to “anand”(the person posted about “apasmaram”), … well, brother, this is called rock music… and the Avial band has done a great job in doing that… because they are not singing “classical” music here… they are doing ROCK…. so your question doesn’t even apply… get a life dude… this band is good for rock category…

You guys are just amazing!!!! I was on a vacation to Kerala and i happened to watch RoseBowl. The stage shows that wer put on the channel was just awsome. The mix of Malayalam folk with the Rock background gives a real alternative touch.
I felt like i was sitting in purplehaze[blr] for a moment.
I expect a lot more from you guys!!!!!!

Amazing song, with nice guitars. The vocals are too good.. even though i do not understand the language, it is one of my favs.

mallu song sounds totally wannabeish…nada nada would sound good to people who have no sense of music…mostly people who have not heard kick ass bangalore bands..every street in bangalore,delhi,guwahati has bands like these…good mallu bands are thermal and a quarter,the sound garden guitarist is also very good…

i still remember…my first glimpse of the band in rosebowl on a rather dull evening..thought it was jus another wannabe..but i heard malayalam words.
and the way the guys made rock..with folk lyrics and mesmerisisng music is indescribable..it hooked me.im so proud that u guys r doin somethin never done before.keep it rockin!

i respect avial for the fact that their lyrics are so down-to-earth and folk, ‘ange kombilu mayil aayalum, kuyil aayalum…’
hats off to them for rocking with such wonderful lyrics. malayalam words are unweildy and breaking them up into small chunks for ease of singing is a mammoth task and no ordinary feat. ordinary musicians cannot accomplish this.

a word to all those ‘culture’ freaks out there. this is the best and probably the only medium to promote good malayalam poetry to the younger generation. they can best relate to such music and through it, understand the lyrics as well.

god’s own country is rich in folk art forms… avial has taken the essense of it and blended it to their songs..thatz commendable..not every band can do that….they’ve shown that they’ve got the balls do it….. proud of you guys…”chekkele ” …reminds of poetic chants once carried out at ulnadan nattin purams….. let our culture live thru u guyz…….. KEEP ON ROCKIN’………..im eagerly waiting for their maiden release…….
*** one more thing I would like to add : avial or no matter any indian band …..when they releases their own album….I could imagine the sweat and hardwork put behind it , as we all know that indian music industry are not that supportive for album releases , for indian rock bands… GUYZZZ…. try to BUY their album….

And the best thing is that the album has inspired my fiance to learn malayalam, (he is a mallu, who doesnt know much of mallu)……guess it generates the same interest in everyone who listens to them…Reminded me of all the naadan songs….My favourite would be aad paambe……Njaan aara(Who am i)..is also cool…….I have been advertising it to all my mallu friends……Their reaction has been WOW!!!!

Heard abt this band from my daughter and went to the biggest
music shop in Ernakulam to buy a CD but couldnt get it. Today
on april fools day I was lucky to watch and and hear their music for the first timeon NDTVLifestyle channel.I just loved
and enjoyed their music.They will surely go places with their

Man I AM really impressed by their effort! Hats off!!! I am right now in Bangalore and hit a heavy rock/metal pub here quite often. I could not visualize an Indian band playing rock music on an Indian language (Malayalam). Well these guys just ROCK! The best part I liked is how they mixed Malayalam folk with the instruments. That I find is really enjoyable. Great job guys!!! And as I write this comment I’m all excited as I will be goin for the Independence Rock Fest due to be held in Palace Grounds, Bangalore tomorrow featuring Avial as one of the three price attractions. Ooooooh man, am I EXCITED!!!!
