Biggest Kerala mafia strikes again!
April 17th, 2007
Kerala Vyapari Vyavasai Ekopana Samiti has started the latest agitation against people of Kerala. From yesterday they have stopped selling cigarettes saying that they need more margin on the sale. The interview with their chairman is always entertaining. He says that traders are not getting any profit!
Yeah, right! Traders are doing business to improve people’s lives and as a charity!
Kerala traders have been doing this blackmailing business for years. But now they are bold enough to do that in the open. Have you ever tried buying “Fruti”(the mango juice) from any shop? Even if you say “Fruti” what they give you is “Maaza” or something else. They won’t stock the “Fruti” because the margin is less.
People say consumer is the King, but in Kerala, traders rule the consumer market. You can only buy what they stock in the shop. In this context, it is a welcome relief that major retail companies such as reliance and spencers are opening more supermarkets!
Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi (KVVES) is one of the biggest mafias currently operating in Kerala. If you have a shop, you have to join as a member. If you don’t, there is considerable risk when there is any trouble. So every year they collect over (20 lakh*50)= 10 crores as membership fee and only God knows where all that money is pumped into!

It is good that you brought up the issue. I noticed this “Fruty” thing. In Thrissur, they usually give “Maa” instead. Also there is a bakery in our area that has no other drinks than Maazaa, Coca-Cola, Pepsi and Mirinda. Ask for lime juice, they give you Coca-Cola.

Real moorachi nayams from the Vyapari Vyasayi unions. They make laws for their convinience - like when the video piracy raids were going on, they protested.
As you said if you ask for Frooty and get Maaza, naturally they would reply “Woaaah..athu thanne ithu”.. To which you would reply in the negative and ay ” Athu… (frooty) ippo varinilla kettaa..”..Basically we are l;eft with no choice.
Similarly, these groups boycotted Hindustan Lever product for some time. Real goons.
It is this “union” culture that is always the bane of our state. For each and everything we have unions.

Yes,
What ever you have said is correct. Some shop owners were threated for their life by these KVVES members for not joining them in my locality. Even the GOVT is also with them.
Recently there was a scam of MFHC. I was of member of the society and I got the household things for half the price for several months. All of a sudden in Asianet, I saw the news that they cheated people by not giving the commodities at half the price. In my locality there are around 200 MFHC members, all were getting their monthly qouta properly.
Later, One of my friends who was working for Asianet news told me that, It was Ravi Kumar (Margin Free shops Association Chairman), KVVES and our honorable Food minister
Mr Divakaran who was against initiating a scam against MFHC, due to their growing popularity among the people.
To my surprise,I came to know that Asianet was the media who supported this illegal news through their channels and even sending goondas to create problems at MFHC office so that they can show in the prime news time.
Does Asianet support MEDIA TROT ?
Kerala has become hells own part. Those who have Money,Political and Media power can do anything against anyone.
Now lets See how they will face the competition from Relience.
