Kerala Irony - 1.15 lakh migrant workers in state!
March 21st, 2007
According to latest government report, more than 1.15 lakh migrant workers are engaged in various sectors in Kerala!
The irony is that Kerala’s unemployment rate is estimated to be around 20% (that means millions!), highest in India. One reason seems to be that most of the unemployed wants easy jobs and easy money. This high rate of unemployment is also the cause for increased crime activity such as the “goonda problem”.
Every day when I return to home after work, I see a dozen guys hanging around the junction near my home. These guys just sit there, burn cigarettes and comment on any girl who happens to walk through the junction. Sometimes they will stand in the middle of the road, and you should see their behavior when a car or bus comes through the road. They very reluctantly move out of the road, giving a threatening glance at the vehicle driver.

Somebody ought to disband the archaic education system and put in place one that is receptive to real world needs.
