World’s first - Liquor consumers welfare association in Kerala
March 11th, 2007
One of the most unique things about Kerala is the abundance of association/unions etc. For anything and everything there is either an association or a union! So it was only waiting to happen…
Some guys in Kollam has setup a new association for boozers. The idea is to promote alcohol drinking(!) and help drinkers with financial problem! The association is named “All Kerala Liquor Consumers’ Welfare Association” and already they have more than 7000 members. Please note that it is only 3 days since the association was setup!
To be a member of the association, Rs 20 is required as registration fee, and Rs 50 as annual fee. They expect to get atleast one lakh members within few months and a convention is planned in Trivandrum.
Per capita liquor consumption is kerala is over 8 litres while the national average is only 4. Liquor is one of the primary revenue sources for Kerala government (which is in huge debt).

This is not at all a gud idea!!If the aim of the association is to promote alcohol consumption, then it has to be stopped!if the idea is to support those who are suffering frm the disease of alcohol consumption or addiction, then it has some meaning!!!!
