Mohanlal in trouble over liquor ad

In a commercial Mohanlal asks – “What’s up this evening?”. He never would have thought that this would land him in such deep trouble. But hey, that is the special treatment kerala gives. It is inhabited by dangerous enviornment activists, moral police, lethal animal rights activists and stupid NGOs.
An NGO has decided to harass Mohanlal’s family over the issue! From the BBC report,
The billboards have not gone down well with the Mahatma Gandhi National Foundation – an NGO based in Kottayam town – which says the sale of the brand of whisky promoted by the actor has gone up since the advertisement came out.
The NGO has shot off a protest note to the parents, wife and children of the Malayalam superstar with a question: “Would you like to see a tipsy Mohanlal sauntering home every evening?”
Poor Mohanlal.
What irritates me is the assumption that alcohol consumption is a sin. In small quantities alcohol is like any other beverage. It relaxes and soothes you and makes you a happy man 
There are people who abuse it, but do you ban food because some people die due to overeating?

Over eating doesn’t spoil your character. Over drinking does. You can’t argue that improving citizen’s character is not the responsibility of government, but the fact still remains that government is answerable for the chaos and havoc they make after getting intoxicated.

First of all let me confess that I am not a tippler.
Coming out KSRTC Bus Stand one Saturday night at around 8 pm, I noticed at least 4 persons in different stages of inebriation and differenct poses just outside. I cursed and turned around and found a person smiling at me. He obviously had heard my curse and was responding to my expression of annoyance.
He addressed me and said, “Sir, do you know that the bus you are using to move all over Kerala runs on the money these inebriated persons give the government.”
That set my mind working. Yes even these dipsomaniacs have a very important role to play in the economy of Kerala. who are we to oppose these people’s right to a decent peg of alcohol? Who are we to oppose Mohalal’s right to act and model?
The chaos and havoc created by tipplers are definitely not to be tolerated. That should be considered as a law and order problem and dealt like that. A night in lockup and a stern warning will definitely scare the majority of the drunkards. The others can be treated as psychological cases and dealt likewise. By the way, alcoholism is a disease.
These are some of my thoughts and they have not been put forth in any way to start a debate or score a point.

Alcohol in moderation is good for you. Any doctor will tell you that. I have been drinking regularly for the last 40 years and am a fairly healthy 70 year old. It is defenitely better than smoking and wisely places like Thrissur have banned smoking in public.
If you drink just to get drunk as some do then of course it becomes a health hazard and a public nuisance.
I am sure Mohanlal is not asking you to get drunk and disorderly but he is simply adverising a brand of whisky for which he is getting paid.
No one is forcing the drink down your throat, are they? It is up to the person to drink sensibily like most Europeans do.

he is correct…..If u can’t resist urself fom liqour, then its ur problem…has Government passed any laws telling CELEBRITIES shuld not appaear in such ADS…..Mohanlal is a great actor, he has given his precious time for ADS like AIDS AWARENESS, RAILWAYS etc to prmote the Indian Government….discuss all those first….then u all find the negatives

If u want to create a problem at any cost you will start working on that.And infact you will be like a phsychopath.Without point and reason you will start bla bla bla graaaa..That’s so weird.And there’s no point in blaming a gr8 actor in the country.First of all these worms would be the worsest drunker’s around.Just check their background.fucking idiot’s!!
