Reliance retail which started operation sometime back is coming in a big way to Kerala. They have already taken over various small operators and is hiring people at managerial level. They are also offering good salaries.

Reliance has already started procuring agricultural products directly from Kerala farmers. This means that farmers will good price for their products since there are no middle men involved.

Small scale supermarket owners in Kerala are already scared and are trying to cook up rumours against Reliance (I overheard one such conversation recently). To me it seems that Reliance retail is going to be a big boon for the consumers.

For example, in Trivandrum, a lot of shop owners consider customers as their enemy. Yes! as enemy! So you pay the money and in return shop owner shows his bad face to you!
