Modernization of Trivandrum Railway station
February 8th, 2007
Thiruvananthapuram Railway Division has installed a passenger call centre at Thycaud. The call centre number is 1331 (BSNL). The call centre is state of the art(?) and is setup at a cost of 60 lakhs. All your railway enquiries will be patiently answered, unlike the guys who pick up calls at the stations.
Railways has also started installation of LED displays which will indicate the coach position/status at the station. Interestingly the long term plan is to elevate Trivandrum station to the international standards.
But if you visit Trivandrum station, you will realize that it might take sometime before that can happen. ![]()

Forget the call centre. Let them first improve the basic qualities in trivandrum railway stations. The tracks are rarely cleaned - with hugde cat sized bandicoots running amock. The waiting rooms are barely neat. The Information centre has people in it who could well take some classes on manners.
