Communal flare up in Kerala
January 25th, 2007
Suddenly without any reason, communal clashes are erupting in many areas. Situation has worsened to such an extend that a police route march was ordered in Tirur (Malappuram). Why is this happening?
It seems that some nasty elements are trying to increase communal tension to get political mileage. Yesterday, I happened to listen a speech by a lady (no idea who she was). The speech was provocative - intended to generate suspicion and hatred between communities.
Government needs to handle these issues with an iron hand. Any soft approach is going to make things much worse - like what happened in Maarad.

Both LDF and UDF are not taking strict action, the police officers who take strict action are not supported, so police will take a ‘avammar kure vetti chavatte’ stand, which is very dangerous and causing widespread mayhem. Only Karunakaran was able to control such riots as he immediately call efficient police officers deploy them to the sites, give instructions orally, and since he protects them and they will act, riots will be nipped in bud. This happened when Chala market burnt, when CV Padamarajan was caretaker CM, and many other occasions.
Now LDF is a Saddam support party so no action against NDF, RSS route marches are also should be banned, as it makes fear even in Hindus.
