Different rules for different people - from fran and martha’s travel diary
January 23rd, 2007
Fran & Martha writes about their trips to Varkala and Alappuzha backwaters,
From Amritapuri we arrived to Kollam, spent the night there and next morning had a boat trip around the backwaters. In the guide book said the trip was very good and run by a very competent people but might have the wrong trip as it was really dull and boring, quite dissapointing. The best thing is that we met a very nice couple from Finland. Right after the trip we took a train to Varkala, the queue for the ticket was massive and we wouldn’t make it on time, we went to the station master and he said that we could get on without ticket, the trip was only an two hours anyway.
I wouldn’t recommend getting on to a train without ticket. You may end up in jail if your time is bad and you are caught by a suprise squad inspection. I guess different rules apply to foreigners.
