Kerala’s white elephant - KSRTC
January 16th, 2007
KSRTC (Kerala Road Transport Corporation) is one of the worst loss making companies run by Kerala Government. It is making a loss of about 20 crore rupees per month and has a cumulative loss of about 2000 crore rupees! Dismantling this white elephant may solve Kerala’s budget deficit problems!
KSRTC has got a pretty decent looking Website. But its ticket reservation page is in construction mode for over a year or so. I seriously doubt whether schedule information given there is correct!
Some funny lines I came across on KSRTC Website,
The present potent administrators of this reputed institution, the key people of KSRTC are the following:
KSRTC has been on the round the clock endeavor for the betterment of their resources. They have been ascending the flight of fame and popularity by providing only the paramount for their customers and well wishers. The maestro of transportation and comfort aims at the safest and the most secure.

The Kerala Police is going to use speed radar imported from Germany to check speeding vehicles and drunk drivers. It should first check and take action on overspeeding KSRTC Buses. Though there are many signboards for speeed limit and yellow lines marked, it is as though these are not binding for KSRTC buses. The police simply ignore traffic violations by KSRTC drivers. It is high time they turn their attention to these people to reduce accidents on highways.

KSRTC and other private bus drivers, stop your road goondaism!!!! People of Kerala want the police to check these drivers when they drive along highways, most of them don’t obey yellow line rules and speed limits. The police are very eager to check other motorists, but become blind when KSRTC buses violate these.
