JTRs trip to Kerala - Backwaters to Thekkady
January 8th, 2007
Kerala is a tourist’s paradise, that is if you know how not to get fleeced. Alappuzha backwaters is something which is a must see for anyone from outside. But if you are planning to spend time in a house boat prepare to carry loads of dollar notes!
JTR from England writes about his experiences in his Kerala trip,
It is a unique experience and it was great to have three nights on the boat - so many people we speak to only managed one. It is one of the best ways we have found to do absolutely nothing for a while.
The only problem is that you have spend around Rs. 30,000 for such kind of experience. I would love to hear from him on the amount of money he had spent for this experience. But he is quick to learn,
In the car we popped into Alappuzha - Asia’s Frithville - and topped up on supplies. In particular, since we were headed for a Taj hotel we loaded up on beer to avoid the excessive charges we saw at the Malibar in Cochin.
